Maine State Parks Begin to Open

Maine state parks and historic sites are starting to open up for the season. Officials with the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands (BPL), under the Maine Department of Conservation, want to update visitors on several park situations around the state.

Sebago Lake State Park in Casco is opening Friday, April 29, according to Park Manager Andy Haskell. All the sites at Witch Cove will be open, which is about 125 sites, and the shower buildings also will be open, he said.

Campers will be able to choose a site and self register, Haskell said. Formal campground reservations for Sebago don’t start until Monday, May 23.

Haskell also said off-season rates will be in effect through May 22. They are:

Maine residents, $10 a night with no hook-ups; $15 a night with water and electricity;
Nonresidents, $18 a night with no hook-ups; $25 a night with water and electricity.
