Fit at Five: Friday Night Fights | News
(NEWS CENTER) - The winter months make it tough for biking enthusiasts to get out on the road and train. That's why Orthopedic Associates teamed up with the Maine Running Company and The Sustainable Athlete to create a weekly indoor race series to help bikers work on their power and strength off the roads. It's more than just a spin class...it's Friday Night Fights.
Coach Bob Turner says that Friday Night Fights has been a great attraction for cyclists and people that are training for triathlons.
"It's a good way mid winter to pit yourself against local competition and see how you are doing."
Each heat takes riders through a computer simulated course. And a tote board, similar to what you see at the horse races, let's you know who's ahead and who needs start peddling...FAST!
"It really takes you to another level because you work that much harder."
Think the hills would be easy since you are inside? Think again. A computrainer attached to the bikes adds resistance for the hills so you can replicate your outdoor training.
The Friday Night Fights series has a couple Fridays left in February and March. We have provided a link for more information on locations and times.
