Saco police officer alerts homeowner of fire

SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Fire demolished a home in Saco on Wednesday. A Saco police officer was on patrol when he saw the fire at 55 common street. He knocked on the door and the homeowner was inside, unaware of the fire.

When the Saco fire department arrived just after 8 pm, the front and side of the first floor of the home was in flames.

Biddeford, Scarborough, and Old Orchard fire departments were called to assist Saco fire fighters with the one alarm fire.

A Saco firefighter was taken to the hospital for observation.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
