Maine baby dies in hospital; dad faces new charges | News
ARUNDEL, Maine (AP) - A 2 ½-month old baby boy police say was assaulted by his own father has died.
State police say Ethan Henderson died shortly after midnight Tuesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland after being taken off life support.
The father, 23-year-old Gordon Collins-Faunce of Arundel, is charged with aggravated assault. The Maine Attorney General's Office says the death is now considered a homicide and charges are likely to be upgraded in the next day or two.
A police affidavit says Collins-Faunce told police he got frustrated at Ethan's crying Saturday morning, held him suspended by his head and threw him into a living room chair. The baby was hospitalized with severe bleeding around his brain.
Collins-Faunce entered no plea during a court appearance Monday. He's being held on $100,000 bail.
