Five Maine teams make the NCAA D-III basketball fields

NEWS CENTER - Three Maine basketball programs were guaranteed a berth in Division III's version of the "Big Dance."  Two more teams received a bid to battle at the national tournament. 

The Bowdoin men and women, who each lost in the NESCAC tournament, will join the UNE (Coastal Colonial Conference) and St. Joseph's women (Great Northeast Athletic Conference), and Husston men (North Athletic Conference), who won their respective conference tournaments. 

The Bowdoin women will host their four-team regional.  The UNE and St. Joseph's women will play in back-to-back games at the Tufts regional. 

All five games will be played on Friday evening: 

Men

Husson (26-2) vs. East Connecticut St. (22-6) in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Friday TBA

Bowdoin (19-5) vs. Richard Stockon (23-4) in Radnor, Penn.  Friday TBA

Women

Bowdoin (21-5) vs. Castleton St. (25-3) at Morrell Gymnasium, Friday TBA

UNE (26-2) vs. New York U. (21-5) in Medford, Mass. Friday TBA

St. Joseph's (23-5) vs. Tufts (26-1) in Medford, Mass. Friday TBA
