Maine Cancer Foundation Announces New Gold Partner for 13th Annual Mary’s Walk Fundraiser

Registration forms and online registration are now available for the March 13
Mary’s Walk which is held in conjunction with the Kerrymen Pub 5K.

Saco, Maine (Feb. 15, 2011) - On Sunday, March 13, nearly 4,000 walkers and runners will converge on Saco to celebrate the 13th annual Mary’s Walk and Kerrymen Pub 5K. These hardy souls from southern Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts will arrive to honor the memory of lives lost to cancer and to encourage and support those who are currently coping with the disease.

This year, the Mary’s Walk committee is pleased to acknowledge Town & Country Federal Credit Union’s Gold Partnership.  Town & Country’s Saco branch office is along the route where Mary Kerry Libby used to walk while trying to recover from her courageous battle with cancer.

STATEWIDE ORGANIZATIONS RECOGNIZE TEEN DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION & AWARENESS MONTH

STATEWIDE ORGANIZATIONS RECOGNIZE TEEN DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION & AWARENESS MONTH

Every year, thousands of teenagers across the State of Maine experience dating violence.  February is Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month, a national effort to raise awareness about abuse in youth relationships and promote programs that focus on prevention. The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence and the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault are calling on Mainers to help recognize this important month, not only for youth in Maine, but for communities statewide.

Dating violence is “controlling, abusive, and aggressive behavior in a romantic relationship. It occurs in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships and can include verbal, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, or a combination of these behaviors.”  Dating violence often starts with what may seem like minor behavior, such as teasing and name calling.
