How Far Can You Go in 60 Minutes Without Even Stepping Outside?

BIDDEFORD, ME (Feb. 15, 2010) – The temperatures outside are still bitter cold, but at the Northern York County Family YMCA it’s a perfect time to swim, bike and run!

On Sun., Mar. 06, 2011 the Y will host the 7th Annual  Indoor Triathlon – a competition that involves 20 minutes each of pool swimming, stationary bike riding, and treadmill running. At the end of the 60-minute event, each participant’s distance will be calculated. Awards will be presented to the first place male and female winners, as well as age-group winners.

Who:  The event draws participants of all ages and levels of athletic abilities – from beginners to seasoned triathletes. Register individually or as part of a relay team!

What: 7th Annual Indoor Triathlon
Beginning with a 20-minute pool swim, participants will have their laps counted. From the pool, they will transition to the fitness area, where they will ride stationary bikes for 20 minutes and have their mileage recorded. Following the bike ride, participants will move to the treadmills for a 20-minute run, and will again have their mileage recorded. Winners will be determined based on the total distance covered during the 60-minute period.

 The fee to participate as an individual is $30 for Y members and $40 for non-members. The fee for relay teams is $40 for members and $70 for non-members.

When:  Sun., Mar. 06, 2011. First swim wave begins at 7 a.m.
