Arundel Maine Golf Tournament to Benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

The NFFF Regional New England Golf Tournament, benefiting the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, will be held on Friday July 1, 2011 at Dutch Elm Golf Course in Arundel, Maine. The proceeds of this event will help to support the NFFF in its mission to honor firefighters who died in the line of duty, provide resources for surviving family members, and prevent future fire service fatalities.

Golf at the NFFF Regional New England Golf Tournament is a scramble format, and the public is encouraged to participate. Highlights of the day’s events include Putting, Longest Drive, and Closest-to-the-Pin competitions. There are two Hole-in-One contests with vehicles for prizes, sponsored by Quirk Auto Park and Weirs Motor Sales, Inc. Other contest sponsors are Professional Firefighters of Maine, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, York County Fire Fighters Association, and Lisa Howard, DDS. Chief Level Sponsors are Maine Fire Chiefs Association and Fire Tech & Safety of New England; York County Chiefs Association is a Captain Level Sponsor.  Biddeford Savings Bank is Hole Sign Sponsor for the event. Numerous prizes will be awarded, including 2 right field Box Seat tickets to the September 19, 2011 Red Sox vs. Orioles game;  4 Portland Sea Dogs tickets;  a New Yorker™ leather fire helmet; gift cards, and more.

The NFFF Regional New England Golf Tournament is one of nearly 40 regional golf tournaments that will be held across the United States in 2011 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Proceeds from NFFF Golf Tournaments directly support the upkeep and future expansion of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and enable surviving family members and coworkers of fallen firefighters to attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend held there each October. These funds also help to endow scholarships and job training for the spouses, children, and stepchildren of fallen firefighters, and enable the Foundation to provide logistical and emotional support to both volunteer and career departments when coping with a line-of-duty fatality from within their ranks. Additional financial support also empowers the Foundation to commit significant resources toward the Everyone Goes Home® program, a comprehensive initiative focused toward the prevention of future firefighter deaths and casualties.
