Events, People

Saco, Maine -- Have you volunteered at the Saco Museum’s annual holiday celebration, Festival of Trees before? Or, would you like to try volunteering for the first time? The Saco Museum is hosting a volunteer meeting for all returning and first time volunteers on Thursday, November 21 at 10 a.m. at the Saco Museum, with coffee and breakfast refreshments. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities during the festival, including leading school tours in the morning for local school children to staffing the front desk and greeting visitors. This meeting will discuss the various options and have shifts throughout the festival available for sign up.

Join us for the ninth annual Festival of Trees at the Dyer Library and Saco Museum! The Festival of Trees is a community event to benefit the programs of the Dyer Library and Saco Museum. Dozens of gorgeously decorated trees and wreaths based upon this year’s theme of The Holly and the Ivy—from Sir Henry Walford Davies classic English choral tune and Cecil Sharp’s published text and musicwill fill the Saco Museum. Among the other highlights of the Festival are the Gala Preview kickoff party on Saturday, November 23; a raffle of designer trees and wreaths concluding on December 18; the popular Gingerbread Village; a Drawing Contest for area school children on view at the Dyer Library; visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus; Children’s Crafts Day; and more. The Festival of Trees is free and open to the public, thanks to our sponsors, beginning Friday, November 29 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, December 29.
