STOP DIABETES®: JOIN THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION AT 2013 KICK OFF EVENT

The American Diabetes Association will host Kennebunks Tour de Cure annual Kick Off event on February 7 at DiMillo’s on the Water from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. This event offers information on the American Diabetes Association and Tour de Cure, and will feature various speakers promoting the mission of the American Diabetes Association's fight against diabetes. The Kick Off event is geared towards inspiring new Tour de Cure riders on the importance of fighting this disease and eliciting excitement in new and current riders in fundraising efforts and united purpose.
The Kennebunks Tour de Cure will take place on June 9, 2013 at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm to help raise critical funds for diabetes research, education, and advocacy. Tour de Cure is designed for anyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist, with 5K, 25K, 50K, 100K, and 100-mile routes. This year's fundraising goal of the Kennebunks Tour de Cure is $450,000.
The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The Kick Off on February 7 will connect past, current, and new riders; provide an inspirational speaking program, and unite local riders in the national movement to show the 26 million Americans living with diabetes they are not alone in this fight.  Diabetes is a multi-faceted disease that can have a seemingly unprovoked juvenile on-set, can be developed over time in adults with poor eating and exercising habits, or can temporarily occur during a woman's pregnancy.  In addition to this disease, persons with diabetes are also prone to developing heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney failure, blindness, and neuropathy. Join us on February 7 to show to 26 million Americans living with diabetes that they are not alone in the fight.
