Rising Tide Baseball Players Sing Along at Truslow Adult Day Center

Saco, Maine—The Truslow Adult Day Center will bring the love of baseball to the Center on Monday June 13 at 1:00 PM. Players of the Old Orchard Raging Tide baseball team, baseball coaches and co-captains from Thornton Academy, Biddeford High School and Old Orchard Beach High School will join a songfest with 25 or so participants who attend the Center.

Musician and vocalist Susan Reid will lead the Truslow participants and ball players in a baseball-themed musical revue. Susan Reid of Eliot, Maine is an accomplished soloist, performer, production and recording artist and owner of the Music & Motion Company.

Everyone will share a “Welcome & Good Luck” cake prepared in honor of the 2011Raging Tide collegiate baseball team.

Truslow Adult Day Center is a Maine-licensed adult day health program operated in Saco, Maine by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging.

Today at Whole Foods Market in Portland, 5% of the day's net sales will be donated to Pine Tree Camp. For those of you who aren't familar with Pine Tree Camp, it is located on 285 acres of woods, fields and more than a mile of waterfront on North Pond in Maine's Belgrade Lakes region, Pine Tree Camp provides an innovative barrier-free environment offering fully accessible recreation to Maine children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Established in 1945 as a summer therapy outlet for children with disabilities, they are proud to be Maine’s only American Camping Association-Accredited camp for people with disabilities.

Sweet Cheeks Diaper Company which will specialize in all natural baby products and supplies including cloth diapers, laundry products, baby accessories and skin care products has opened in York.  The business is located at 4 Market Place Drive and is owned by Karen Osper (who also owns Nautical Dog Pet Grooming in York).

The store will be will be managed by Leslie Reichert. "This is a store for Mom's and run by Mom's. Both Leslie and I are new Mom's and we were looking for a place that offered high-quality, affordable, all natural baby products for our boys.

We are finding out from schools and churches here in Old Orchard Beach, the families that are in dying need of help, families with children, animals etc… Starting Sunday, June 5th, 2011 @10:00 a.m. and every Sunday after in the Milliken St. parking lot! We are going to be showing up at these special families’ homes to surprise them with lots of volunteers including: Builders, contractors, roofers, plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, material and furniture suppliers as well as citizens that want to join in on this new adventure along with a police/fire escort! We also will fill the family’s fridge up with food and taking the children shopping at the mall to get them nice clothes to fit in at school, to build their self-esteem in hopes their grades will improve if need be and help build growth within themselves.

Healthy Habits Youth Triathlon Series Kicks off on Sunday
Biddeford, ME (May 20, 2011) – On Sunday, May 22, 2011, the Healthy Habits Youth
Triathlon Series 2011 season will officially get underway at the Northern York County Family
YMCA. The race will consist of an indoor pool swim, and outdoor bike and run.
Sunday’s race will get underway at 9 a.m. Media are encouraged to attend.
The Healthy Habits Youth Triathlon Series is all about kids. Now in its second year, it is a fun way
to introduce the sport of triathlon to children in Maine. The goal is to teach children that exercise is
crucial for good health. Eating right, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough exercise are
Healthy Habits that organizers for the initiative hope to instill in the children participating in this
raceseries. The events are open to all children ages 5-15.
The series is comprised of three races.

7:00 p.m. – Start 5K – Temple and Free Street

The Ocean Park Association will be hosting the 15th Annual Ocean Park 5K Race and also Kids 1K fun Run in the early evening of Friday, July 29, 2011. This is a great event on a flat, fast course through the heart of Ocean Park.

The course is certified by the USATF.
