The Community Bicycle Center received funds from Corning Incorporated Foundation to engage Biddeford school-aged children in bicycle-related, asset-building experiences during after/out of school hours. Funds will enable CBC to continue lowering barriers of participation by offering programs free of cost to all participants.

 Corning Incorporated Foundation awards funds to initiatives which improve the quality of life in and near communities where Corning Incorporated is an active corporate citizen. Commitment to corporate citizenship and social responsibility has been part of Corning for more than 150 years. Over the years, the Corning Incorporated Foundation has contributed more than $108 million through its programs of giving. Currently, the Foundation annually fulfills approximately 136 grants totaling some $3.0 million.

 Based in Biddeford, the CBC exists to empower people through bicycles and bicycling experiences with a focus on youth development. The CBC’s after/out of school programs include drop-in bike maintenance, a girls-only bike riding group, seasonal mountain bike and road rides, making art with recycled bike parts, and formal bike repair training groups.
