The Center for Grieving Children to sponsor the AFSP National Survivors of Suicide Day
Events, Families, Health

The Center for Grieving Children is sponsoring The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) National Survivors of Suicide Day.  This event will provide an opportunity for individuals who have lost someone they know to suicide to connect with others who have experienced a similar loss. It is designed to be a day of healing, empowerment, support, and sharing. It is a day for remembering those we love who have died.

Every person who dies by suicide leaves behind survivors --- loved ones left shocked, grieving, and struggling to understand and cope with their heartbreaking loss. Those left behind often struggle with all of those “Why…?" and “What if…?” questions. If you have lost someone you know to suicide, you may feel isolated and alone and wonder if anyone understands your pain.  We invite you to join us at the National Survivors of Suicide Day.

The event will take place on November 20th at Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine.  The event starts at 12:30 pm and will include:  a sharing of photos, a DVD featuring a panel of survivors and support groups following the presentation.  For more information or to register please visit our website or call Patricia Ellen at (207) 775-5216.

The Center for Grieving Children’s mission is to provide loving support to grieving children, teens, families and the community through peer support, outreach and education.
