Arundel Ice Cream Shop has moved

Arundel Ice Cream Shop has moved next door into the Seafood Center for the winter season.

New location: Next door at 1181 Portland Rd, Rte. 1, Arundel, inside the Seafood Center.

New hours: Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 11am - 8pm.

New payment options: Visa, MasterCard and Discovery cards are now accepted.

New product: Ice cream pies, by the slice and the 9-inch tin. Seafood Center manager John's idea. He suggested we pour popular flavors like Carmel Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie into a graham-cracker pie crust, freeze it and sell it sliced. It is good.

Newest event update: Halloween Party for Kids on 10/31 between 5-6pm.

Dancing, games, scarecrow making, food and sweet treats for children 12 and under in costume.

Afterward, join the crowd as we head to Summer Street (Historic Kennebunk, Rte. 35) for good trick-or-treating. We had fun last year and this year we are adding a great cause, Chronic Lyme Disease awareness. Check out http://www.lymerunner.com/ for more information on the cause. Wear an athletic-theme costume and Lyme Buddies (http://www.lymebuddies.com/) gets additional donations from us. Complete update next week.

The second cow milking. Many adults milked a cow for the first time. Ah, the power of Gromit the Holstein--seven months pregnant and going strong. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=22838&id=107294445986445

Bikes and ice cream. The Community Bike Center in Biddeford last week celebrated its fifth year of providing after-school bike fun, bike building skills and overall valuable guidance to kids. Their website says it more eloquently: http://www.communitybike.net/. We asked founder Andy Greif if we could donate some 'scream for the big party. Here are shots of kids making shakes. The Center has two stationary bikes that when pedaled power an attached milkshake maker. Pretty cool. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=22908&id=107294445986445
